Written Directions

This section starts at Mile Marker 0 in Dawson Creek BC at the junction of highways 2 and 97. Follow Rt. 97 northwest towards Ft. Nelson.

Scenery

The scenery here is typical far north coniferous woods. 17 miles out of Dawson creek there's a turnoff for Kiskatinaw Road and its curved wooden bridge. This is an origianal bridge from the Highway.

Drive Enjoyment

The route is mostly straight with some sweepers and a few hills mixed in, Particularly after Ft. St. John. The pavement here is generally very good all the way to Ft. Nelson.

Tourism Opportunities

The main tourist opportunities are in the cities at the beginning and end of this section with numerous options to eat, drink and spend the night. Gas is spread out along the route every 100 miles or so. Keep an eye out for the abundant wildlife in the area.

The best part of this route is knowing that you are beginning an epic ride. The Kiskatinaw Bridge is a piece of history to ride over. The route is in very good shape and a nice warm up for what's to come.
