Title: The Santa Cruz Mountain Tour Loop

State: California

Submitted By: Richard

Date Submitted: Feb 09

Motorcycle Type: 08 Vulcan Custom

Motorcycle Road Length: 59 Miles

Motorcycle Road Scenery:
You will be cruising through the mountains. At the top of bear creek you can sneak a peek of the valleys below. This route passes directly through or right next to about 5 parks so you know the scenery has to be good … Ana Jean Cummings Park, Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, Lexington Reservoir County Park, Henry Cowell Redwood State Park, and finally Wilder Ranch State Park.
Motorcycle Road Quality:

The road is pretty good. You will not be going long before some twisties, if your looking for something to do and kill a couple of hours..this is your road.

Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:
Amenities are out there if you need them. But it's only 60 miles or so, so you won't be doing much stopping

I've ridden these roads dozens, if not hundreds, of times. Most of the roads in this area are scenic and twisty. Sometimes traffic is a problem, especially on Hwy 9, but there are other options. In the summer, check out the strange plant that smells like salami!

Nice ride. I would also recommend riding Highway 35 north to Highway 84 west. Stop at Alice's and say high to the dozens (or hundreds on a weekend) of other motorcylists there. Watch for police, as they tend to hang here also. You could even head all the way up to Highway 92 and head west to Half Moon Bay. Beautiful day-long ride if the fogs backs off.
