Road Scenery:
|
|
Hills,
Valleys, exotic animals (in an animal refuge), ranchland,
curvy roads, small towns, and beautiful flora.
|
| |
Motorcycle
Road Quality:
|
|
Paved
roads, much without paint (no center or edge lines). Traveled
primarily by the few residents living on the adjacent ranches.
|
| |
Motorcycle
Roadside Amenities:
|
|
The
primary amenities are "photo opportunities" although there
are a few small towns (Leakey, Camp Wood, and you'll pass
through Vanderpool and Medina getting there from Bandera).
|
| Note
from a recent MotorcycleRoads.com visitor about this route:
"Hwy 16 between Kerrville and Bandera is not for beginners!
Due to recent accidents, weekend police patrol has increased
a great deal. Hwy 173 may be a better route between Kerrville
& Bandera." |

Starting
(and ending) in Bandera:
Take SH16 North to Medina; left on RR337 and follow 337
through Vanderpool, Leakey, and into Camp Wood. Make a right
onto SH55 North for a few miles, looking for RR335 veering
off to the right (~4.3 miles). Follow 335 to SH41 (~29 miles)
and make a right onto 41 East. Proceed about 13.7 miles
and make a right onto RR336. After 26 miles on 336, it will
merge into US 83. Continue on 83 to RR337 and make a left
to go back to 16, then a right on 16 to get back to Bandera.
Stops for refreshments will be in Leakey, Vanderpool, Camp
Wood, and a nice Apple place in Medina. Enjoy!
