Title: NM 337 through the Cibola National Forest
State: New Mexico

Submitted By: Dr. Nod

Date Submitted: Nov 06

Motorcycle Type: 98 BMW K1200RS

Motorcycle Road Length: 50 Miles

Motorcycle Road Scenery:
Great high desert scenery. Mountains on your right and canyons on your left! Travel through and next to Cibola National Forest. Quaint communities.

Motorcycle Road Quality:
Good pavement, "foot peg scrapping curves," and plenty of places to catch the shoulder and take in the scenery.
Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:
Stop at the Goat Farm for goat milk fudge, goat cheese with green chili, kids can pet the goats, and more. See the Quarai Ruins--400 year old church--with towering adobe walls. Stop in Moriarity for a cold one and then cut back to the interstate for a 65 mile run to Albuquerque or head south to El Paso and the Border! Visit the Cibalo National Forest.

Directions:

Written directions:

Start your route in Cedar Crest, NM (about 20 miles due East of Albuquerque, NM). Initially you'll start on State Route 14 but this will quickly turn into NM 337. Just take this south for about 30 miles till it runs into NM 55. Take a right on to NM 55 and head through Tajique, NM and through Torreon, NM and continue down to the route’s end point of Mountainair, and you're done .

Just be careful on this road. Always alot of police on patrol, and not very forgiving of the posted 50mph speed limit along the route

Plan accordingly: 91 octane not available in Mountainair. Still, this is an amazing New Mexico ride ya'll >;-)

Great road with a variety of twisties that open onto high desert plain. Excellent views of the Monzano Mts and deep canyons on the North end. Don't miss the old Spanish missions, well worth the time to check them out.
