Motorcycle Road Scenery:

      Beautiful country side and ride along the river with views of Lake Norris, Clinch River Tailwaters in Lake Norris Dam area. Plus, a nice museum with an Old Mill and Barn. Savage Gardens has some unique Rock Formations. Big Ridge Park has an Old Mill.

Motorcycle Road Quality:

      This route has everything from nice cruising two lane and four lane roads to some very twisty areas on route 61 near Big Ridge State Park and a section near Norris Lake along the river that is somewhat narrow.

Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:

      Plenty of places for gas, snacks, food, etc in addition to the places to stop mentioned above. Check out the pictures below in the direction section.

Written directions:

Note: These directions are very specific and listed below in detail.

Start and End at Exit 407 of I-40 in Sevierville, TN.

Go north on Snyder Road (Past the Smokies Ballpark).

Cross 25W/70 onto Hwy 139. Turn left onto Hwy 11E - 4 lane (stop sign).

Turn right onto Mascot Road (stoplight and gas station)

Curve to right onto Mine Rd (Mascot Rd becomes Mine Rd at a sweeping right hand curve).

Turn left onto Hwy 11W - 4 lane (stop sign)

Turn right onto Roberts Rd (watch closely for this turn).

Turn right on Washington Pike (stop sign and station)

Imediately turn left onto Roberts Rd.

Turn left onto Emory Rd, 331 (stop sign, T Interesection).

Continue straight on Emory Rd (it becomes 131 at 131/331 intersection, stop sign)

Continue straight on Emory Rd (still 131) at the intersection with 33 (stop light).

Turn right on Norris Freeway, Hwy 441, - 4 lane road (stop light) Follow Hwy 441, ccross 61 thru the town of Norris, TN (you may want to explore some side streets in the residential section of Norris to see some little houses built in the 40s and 50s).

Coming back to Norris Freeway, 441.

Continue on Hwy 441 to a stop sign after going thru town and turn right (Taht is still Hwy 441)

Continue on Hwy 441 (You will pass the tailwaters of Lake Norris on your left and a very nice Musuem of East TN and Norris Dam History on your right which includes a mill and old Barn - take the time to stop at both spots) Continue on Hwy 441 (You will pass a visitor center and cross the top of the dam for Lake Norris)

Watch for a left turn into the East Overlook (shortly after toping the curvy hill). Stop for a view of the lake and tail waters from about 200 feet above the dam

Continue on 441 toward I-75 - But do not go under or onto I-75.

Turn Left onto Cool Hollow Rd ( just before I-75 and at a gas station) Turn Right onto Linda Ave (very sharp turn - if you miss it, you will dead end and come back)

Continue to an intersection and go straight across the intersectio onto Savage Garden Rd (stop sign) (Savage Garden is also shown as Lovely Bluff Rd on Google map)

Continue to the first right turn (You wills ee a Bridge and be on Savage Garden Road after you turn) Follow Savage Garden thru a steep right turn (switchback) and look for a gravel driveway on your left.

Turn left into the Driveway (( The gravel driveway is a very sharp left turn - you can make the turn or pass it and turn around and come back - easier turn)).

Savage Gardens is Private Property but the owner opens it to visitors - no charge.

Park and explore the trail into the woods to see a shelter, rock formations, arches and Billy Goats. (a very unique place).

Leave the gravel driveway, turn right and backtrack across the bridge to the junction of Savage Garden / Lovely Bluff and Savage Gardens.

Turn Right onto Savage Garden / Lovely Bluff (T Intersection). Follow Savage Garden / Lovely Bluff until you cross the brige over the Clinch River. Immediately Turn Left onto River Rd.

Turn Right onto 441 (River Rd ends at 441). Continue on 441 back thru the town of Norris as you came earlier in the ride to Hwy 61.

Turn left on 61(stop light) - 61 eventually becomes very curvy in some areas.

Note: A right at 61 will take you by the famous Appalachian Museum (charge and takes a couple of hours to see)

Hwy 61 will pass Big Ridge State Park - turn left into the park (visitor center, etc.) You have to explore to find the Old Mill (go past the cabin rental area), a Swimming Area, and a Campground.

Backtrack out of the park to 61 and turn left on 61.

Turn Left on Hwy 170 (170 is a beautiful cruising rode)

NOTE - Alternate --- A very curvy part of 61 (warning very curvy) can be used by turning right on 170 and immediately left on 61 to 33. Turn left on 33 and it will take you to 61 (where you make a right to Luttrel) Then follow the rest of the route below where it says "Continue on 61 thru Luttrel to Blaine, TN"

Turn Right on 33.

Turn left on 61 toward Lutrell, TN (Lutrell is birthplace of Chet Atkins and Kenny Chesney).

Copntinue on 61 thru Lutrell to Blaine, TN.

Turn right on 11W (stop sign)

Turn left on Mine Rd (watch closely for this turn - there is a small state sign for a Library just before the turn. (This will be the same road you rode early in the ride and the rest of the ride is backtracking to Exit 407)

Follow Mine Rd to Mascot Rd (It becomes Mascot Rd at a sweeping left turn). Turn Left at 11E (stop light)

Turn Right at 139 (sharp right)

Follow 139 across 25W/70 onto Snyder Road.

Snyder Road will take you back to Exit 407 of I-40.
