Road Scenery:
|
This
route is located very close to the Smokey
Mountain National Park. However, it will offer some
of the same breathtaking beauty of the park with out the
traffic and congestion. You'll drive in some beautiful lush
mountain scenery and will not be disappointed by the surroundings.

Road Quality:
|
|
Found
these roads a couple of years ago while riding the area.
Beautiful scenery, minimal traffic if any, wide variety
of very tight curves and sweepers.

Roadside Amenities:
|
|
Take
this route for the scenery and twisty roads not the "roadside
amenities" as there really isn't much to do along the
way in terms of attractions and such. Be sure to fuel-up
in Newport....next fuel is not until Burnsville.

Head
East out of
Newport, TN on highway 25, go until it "T's", turn
North on 208, follow it until it intersects 321 in Greeneville.
Turn right (east) on 321 and take it all the way to Johnson
City. At Johnson City, take a right (south) on to US HWY
19 (towards Asheville). Take this south all the way over
the TN/NC border and into NC. About 10 miles after you
cross the border in Mars Hill, take a left on to 19 East
and take this all the way to the routes end at Burnsville
NC.
*If
you want to continue seeing the nice stuff, continue on
19 till you get to 80. Take a right on to 80 (south) and
this will take you down to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
