Title: Highway 28: Tri-State Tour
State: South Carolina

Submitted By: Felipe

Date Submitted: Oct 07

Motorcycle Type: Honda CBR 1000 RR

Motorcycle Road Length: 29 Miles

Nantahala National Forest

Motorcycle Road Scenery:
Beautiful National Forest scenery. Mountains, Rivers and Waterfalls … a great sampling of 3 states in a nice 30 mile run! Travels through the Sumter National Forest and later Nantahala National Forest.
Motorcycle Road Quality:
Plenty of tight curves as well as some long sweepers, nice transitions. For the pavement, the majority of the road is in good shape. Once in the forest area you can twist the throttle and drag your knees.
Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:

Not a lot between Walhalla and Highlands, so, fill up before you leave Walhalla. No restaurants or other facilities for miles.

Directions:

Written directions:

Start in Walhalla, SC and head north on route 28, cross the SC/GA border, stay on route 28, cross the GA/NC border, and head into Highlands, NC (then end point).

1) There are a few gas stations & convenience stores available between Walhalla and the Highway 107 split. To make this ride a more varied round trip, after reaching Highlands, NC, continue on Hwy 64 to Cashiers, NC. Then turn right and return to Walhalla on Hwy 107. On 107, you will pass the Walhalla Fish Hatchery (you can visit if you are interested) and Cherry Hill Recreation Area and Oconee State Park.

This road is in the north west area not south east. This is a fun road
but not an all day event. Check out the Devils Triangle in Tenn. Look
it up on the web.
