Mississippi Motorcycle Roads and Trips

Motorcycle roads in Mississippi (MS) vary from the hill dominated north, lush forest of central MS, Mississippi River valley providing the state's western border and the Gulf Coast region providing the state's southern boundary. The state is a Mecca of casino tourism of the US south and hosts some interesting Civil War and Civil rights historical sites.

Route 21 - From Forest to Philadelphia (Jan 08)

… low hills and farmland ... ride is mostly long sweeping turns and hills (sometimes both!). A group of us on sport bikes thoroughly enjoyed this road!

Backwoods route from Benndale to Monticello (Nov 07)

… ride past many farms, pastures, long stretches of woods and great smells … mostly two lane back roads with minimal traffic

Old Port Gibson Road (Apr 07)

… this trip offers lots of trees like the Natchez trace but not much on scenery … its one of those roads you take for the thrill of the ride & road ... great conditions to ride on any bike!!

"Home of Blues" tour on US 278 (Jan 07)

… scenery is flat farm land, with little traffic … not many twist and turns, but it is a very nice ride in the country … plenty of famous Blues Artist graves, juke joints and blues festivals along the way … this is one of my favorite trips, one I make every year

Red Bluff (Nov 05)

… trip is very hilly and woody … road quality is fair to good with plenty of elevated twisters … too many to count … stop off at Red Bluff and admire the scenery

The Gulf Coast at its Best (Aug 05)

… trip winds through part of the Holly Springs National Forest … in the fall it's a beautiful ride … just a few chances to open up the throttle - mostly gradual curves, nothing to sharp for the beginner

Half Hour Hoot (Jul 05)

… this trip will start you out in southern Alabama and take you down along the Gulf Coast of Southern Mississippi and into the tip of Louisiana as you cross the Mississippi/Louisiana border heading into New Orleans ... the damage from Hurricane Katrina is pretty interesting and not something you see everyday!

Natchez Trace Escape - Windsor Ruins,
Route 552 (Sep 04)

… riding the Natchez Trace is truly a ride through history … low speed limits and long straight sections … don't miss the Windsor Plantation Ruins – there are no big signs since it's not a commercial tourist site

The scenery factor of each route is rated

Far above average scenery for that state. (Ex. mountain views, lakes, rivers, hills, or forests.)   Below average scenery for that state. (Ex. an area that simply is lacking in overall natural beauty.)

The road quality factor of each route is rated

Outstanding driving conditions.  Plenty of twists, turns & hills; well maintained roads with smooth pavement.   Straight roads over flat land or rough road conditions with
some potholes or driving
hazards such as gravel

A rating of what there is to do off the bike

Plenty of things to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)    Little to nothing to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. lack of museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)
