Quote
from submitter (Gary) on Push Mountain Road...
"Several weeks ago I met some riders who had driven
from Atlanta to ride Push Mountain. It's funny. My wife
and I were taking turns at around 70mph and we came upon
5 riders stopped halfway down the Push mountain road. We
waved at them and then gunned the motor into the next curve.
The riders took it at a challenge. 70mph on a 35mph curve
is not slow, but those guys passed us at over 100 mph without
a doubt--through the curves. They were waiting for us at
the end of the road. It turned out they were professional
riders from Georgia checking out the Ozarks. One told me
this road was one of the 5 best that he ever rode."
Motorcycle
Road Scenery:
While
leaning in and out of hundreds of turns you will pass through
three mountainsides. High-speed turns are numbered in the
hundreds in the 30 odd miles of the road. You cannot miss
the sparks that you generate from high-speed leans. Halfway
through the ride you will descend from a mountain with sheer
drop-offs to the valley floor.
Motorcycle
Road Quality:
A
rock solid 5-star in the motorcycle-road quality area! Push
Mountain is known for its curves and drop-offs. When in
the Ozark Mountain View area, this is a must for motorcycles.
Many riders finish the ride by getting off their bikes and
laughing out loud. The road is that impressive. The first
time you ride the Push Mountain road, you will not believe
it!
Motorcycle
Roadside Amenities:
Nothing
here in terms of "roadside amenities" ... take this route
for the driving experience not the "attractions." A short
distance from Blanchard Springs caverns. But the beauty
of this road is that it is lightly traveled and motorcycles
rule the turns. If you run out of gas or have mechanical
problems, prepare to walk or wait for assistance. From
beginning to end there are no services.
Note:
in Sep 06, a visitor of MotorcycleRoads.com took this
route and reported back the following update regarding
this route's "Roadside Amenities": "There
actually is a grocery store with snacks, food, drinks,
beer and gas some 17 miles from the South side or 8 from
the North" - Arild.
(Note: the map above has been updated as of Dec 08 after multiple viewers reported it was confusing and/or inaccurate) Start
your run from the town of "Mountain
View" Arkansas, located in north central of Arkansas.
From Mountain View take highway 14 North. About 10 miles past
Blanchard Springs Caverns take the road to the right with
the small sign "Push Mountain Road" - AKA Arkansas Route 341. Note: a Mar 2010 update from the "PhotoGuy": "the highway department has quit putting up the small "Push Mountain Road" sign at Hwy 14 as it kept getting stolen. The sign that marks the intersection is the "Arkansas 341" sign. There is a mileage sign at the intersection that points toward 341 and says "Mountain Home 35 miles".
Note: a contributor by the name of "Bygdawg"
has submitted alternative directions for a route
he calls "Push Mountain Loop". The directions
are as follows: Take Hwy 62 East out of Harrison through
Yellville, AR toward Mountain Home. At Mountain Home take
SR-201 South to SR-341. SR-341 South will dead end into
Hwy 14. Take 14 West (right) to Harriet, AR and Ben Hur.
Turn left onto Hwy 27. Follow Hwy 27 south/west to Hwy 16
West to Witts Spring and Ben Hur. Hwy 16 will then hit Hwy
7. Take Hwy 7 north back to Harrison. In the Dogpatch area,
you will pass by The HUB at Hwy 7 spur, the areas largest
motorcycle resort catering exclusively to the motorcycle
crowd.

Push Mountain Rd (Ark Hwy 341) is one if the best in that area. I grew up in Ark and this one is great. I ride it everytime I am in that area. Now for another great one ride Ark Hwy 123 from Hwy 65 all way to the bottom. This is know as the Ark Dragon. Another of the good ones. Another is Ark Hwy 16 between Ark Hwy 27 and Ark hwy 7. This stretch is known as the Copperhead. Enjoy I always do.
Push Mtn Rd is a great ride, the loop mentioned above actually does not include this great ride! Watch out for rd surface irregularities, slow traffic and deer. Gas at Mtn Home or Norfork/Salesville on Hwy 5. Push Mtn Road (AR state hwy 341) is know locally as the serpant as it snakes through the beautiful Ozark National Forest. Highly recommend this ride!
I rode Push Mountain Road - Hwy 341 this past weekend. It is one of the BEST roads that I have ridden!! Not much traffic and a very well kept secret (not for long). When you ride look for Jack. He runs PushMountainPics.com and he is set up on the weekend taking pictures of everyone. You can then go to his website and purchase photos of yourself! Pretty cool to have a candid photo of yourself while tearing up the 'Serpent'!!

Push Mountain Road is a great road, I ride the road at least once a month or more thoughout the summer. It does have alot of great views and if you like riding curvy roads on your bike don't skip this one. The road is great for just cruising or knee down fun. Come check it out!!

I rode down from Kansas and did this one in June of 09 and boy am I glad I did! It's the Deal's Gap or Dragon of the midwest. For those of us in the midwest who aren't near Deal's Gap this is where we get our twisty fix for the year. It doesn't much to do in terms of when you get off the bike so I gave it a 9 but it's an 11 in the road fun category!!!

The most fun you can have on two wheels. It is out in the middle of nowhere. If you plan a ride through the Ozarks, be sure and include this stretch of fun.

July 2010. Fantastic ride. Aside from the first few miles on the north end where there was some traffic and patched asphalt, this was an incredibly fun, roller-coaster 18 miles of pavement. A few hairpins and short, steep climbs, but otherwise the sweeps were just right for carrying speed and scraping floorboards. Nice spot on the south end where you can safely park on the shoulder to catch your breath. I nearly fell over getting off the bike I was laughing so much at how fun it was. BE PREPARED FOR DEER. I missed one that had run beside me then darted across the front of the bike. Insanely fun otherwise.

When I wrote this review several years ago I forgot to mention on thing. Be careful when approaching the 2 overlooks on this road. There are two places cars can pull over and admire the views. I've been pushing hard on the curves and had to slow down due to tourists near the road surface. The more I ride this road the more I respect the difficulty of the turns. Take this road at speed and hang on. Ride this one and Push Mountain and you have had one good day's riding.

A must ride if you are in the area. Very little traffic, even on a Saturday. Ties in with several other awesome roads to make a very fun and challenging ride.
Better ride than Tail of the Dragon, NC! Higher speed though so try to be aware of the deer. Lightly traveled by cars, trucks and RVs....this is what I liked about it. The pavment is very sticky in warm weather. FUN FUN FUN!

Great run. When it first started out off of HWY 5 going back towards HWY 14, I thought what was all the fuss about. However, when I got to the end of the road, I thought this was awesome. I even nearly ran over a bobcat. Will definately ride it again.
