Road Scenery:
|
|
This
route has a great path that takes you through valleys,
across the mountain and in many places hugs the winding
path of a nearby river. It's a perfect and convenient
80 mile loop with scenery that just can't be beat!

Road Quality:
|
|
You
will enjoy good quality pavement the entire route combined
with a strong collection of turns, climbs, and descents.
You cross multiple bridges and experience a lot of "road
diversity" between turns and straights. This is a solid
4!

Roadside Amenities:
|
|
There
are many good places to stop for a rest and to get gas or
food. Small cities and lots of country side.

Directions: Begin in Rainsville, AL (just 10 min. off
of I-59). Travel south on highway 75 about 10 miles and
turn right onto county road 400 which will quickly become
AL highway 227. This road will take you down the mountain
and into Lake Guntersville State Park for some great scenery.
Be cautious of a left turn between the mountain and the
lake that keeps you on 227. 227 will lead into downtown
Guntersville. When you meet up with highway 431 take a right
for more lake views. A few miles after the bridge crossing
the lake you will take a right onto highway 79 which rolls
along the river into Scottsboro. Highway 79 will meet with
the on-ramp to highway 72 east. Take a right onto 72 east
a few miles until the highway 35 ramp. You will take a right
going southeast on highway 35 until you end up back up the
mountain in Rainsville.
