Motorcycle Road Scenery:
I couldn't believe that US 30 wasn't on MotorcycleRoads.com. The views on this are amazing. The mountains and the look out points are fantastic!!! I little bit of history; this is the road that Lincoln took to Gettysburg. Its a good thing they didn't have motorcycles bake then or else he might have never given the Gettysburg Address, he would have kept riding this part over and over.

Motorcycle Road Quality:
Nice amount of twist and turns up and downs. The road seems like its maintained well.

Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:
Gas up in Breezewood if you need it because there is very little till you get to Chambersburg. There is a biker bar on top of one of the high points (nice view from there … I recommend a stop here).

Directions:

Written directions:

The directions couldn't be much easier. Just start your route in Breezewood, PA and take US 30 (Lincoln Highway) all the way to Chambersburg, PA.

We rode this with our touring group last year on our way to Gettysburg. We stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pa. A must see.
From there the road just twists and turns, each view better then then the last with the view from the Mountain House the best of all.

We rode 30 West from Chambersburg to Pittsburgh this spring. Along the way are great veiws and road side atractions to stop in and experience. Be sure to stop at some of the overlooks and the tourist traps, it is worth every penny. also plan time in to stop at the Flight 911 memorial.

I ride Rt 30 from Gettysburg to Ligonier every year to go to the Highland Festival in Sept. It's a ride thru history, from the Indian Wars to the present. Gorgeous views here and there, one of my all time favorite local rides.

I live 5 miles off of Hwy 30 about 30 minutes west of Bedford. I just bought my motorcycle so I haven't had a chance to ride to Gettysburg yet but have driven the road coming back from when the family and I went on the Gettysburg tour. There is a lot of nice views on that road and a nice little tavern at the top of one of the mountains that has a great view and good food!

This road is at its absolute best between PA75 and Breezewood. This stretch is a fun ride with some great sweepers and significant elevation changes. East of PA 75 this route has very little to offer.
Stop at the Mountain House Bar & Grill at the very top of the Tusacarora mountain (4 mi West of PA75) . The parking lot offers a spectacular panoramic view of the valley below. The grub is pretty good too. If you are lucky - you will see hangliders launching off the mountain too.
