Road Scenery:

Forests,
farms, and a honking big Reservoir. Lovely tiny town centers,
and some of the best farmland to be seen near Boston.

Road Quality:
|
|
Clinton's
streets are not great, but the town center is a nice stop
to stretch. Otherwise road quality is good, with mostly
one lane roads, and little traffic.

Roadside Amenities:
|
-
Harvard
Center is a postcard.
-
Stop at Bolton
Orchards, at the intersection of 117, and 110S. Lot's
of goodies to eat.
-
Clinton Center is good for a window shop. The route I
describe doesn't bring you onto the main drag of shops,
but the route brings you through Clinton once early in
the route, and the other time as you are back on your
way to Concord. One of those times I would suggest you
take a break in Clinton. Just find High Street
(ask the locals) and if you park there, you'll get the
chance to window shop, or eat. If you are looking for
hardy grub, check out the Old Timer, on Church Street.
A nice sort of traditional Irish pub; really Old School.
If you walk uphill to the Town Square, there's a lovely
green, fantastic Victorian Architecture, and a Museum
of Russian Icons, which just opened. Up the hill, there's
a neighborhood of beautiful Victorians. It's worth
the trip for a gander. While you are in Clinton, check
out the Strand Theater; which features some decent
dining, while watching a movie. Cool!
-
On Rt 70, in West Boylston, you'll see signs for Tower
Hill Botanical Gardens, which is definitely worth a stop.
-
Maynard Center,
on Rt 62, has lots of great shops to poke in, but some
are closed on Sunday. Big Scoops is great for ice cream,
and you must stop at the Maynard Outdoor store, and the
many artisan shops in town. Lots of places to eat, too.
The Sit'n Bull has BBQ, there's two Thai places you'll
pass, and an Indian Restaraunt. The Blue Coyote Grill
has burgers and steak, and there's the Neighborhood, a
pizza place that serves good food. Don't miss Teresina's,
a great vintage shop. There's a small motorcycle shop,
called Bikeworxx, which you can stop at. Say Hi! to Gaylan,
the owner, and pet Biker Betty, the shop cat. .
