scenic highway with turns and twists and ups and downs.
Watch for wildlife as you'll be driving through the Black
Hills national forest with its numerous lakes, streams,
and diverse topography.

2 lane highway with some passing lanes. During the Sturgis
Rally, this Highway is very busy, as are most of the highways
in the Black Hills. Ride safe!

kinds of things to see and do along the way: caves, wildlife,
fish
hatchery and beautiful scenic pull-offs and a sweet
little tavern called "Rimrock Happy Tavern." Also, Rapid
City offers tons of choices too.

Written directions:
West
Highway 44 starts on the west side of Rapid
City, coming off of Jackson Blvd. Take Highway
44 west for about 16 miles or so until the
end of Hwy 44 … where it comes to Hwy 385,
which goes to Deadwood (north) or Mt. Rushmore
and Custer State Park (south).
