Title: The Jefferson City Sedalia Half Day Loop

State: Missouri

Submitted By: Murmur

Date Submitted: Feb 08

Motorcycle Type: 96 Kawasaki Vulcan

Motorcycle Road Length: 147 Miles

Motorcycle Road Scenery:

This is some of the most beautiful scenery central MO has to offer. Winding roads, fields, trees and the Missouri River are what you have to look forward to. The stretch along the Missouri river will make it all worth while.

Motorcycle Road Quality:
The roads are your typical MO two lane roads, but what makes this trip worth your time is the fact that the road is so winding and secluded. You will run into little traffic and be the king of the road.
Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:
Places to look forward to are Sedalia's Downtown area and the Missouri State Fair Grounds. Be sure to stop in at Eddies Drive Inn for a steakburger. Bunceton has a great little sandwich shop downtown, this is in contrast to the wide variety of places to see and do in Jefferson City. The is a great little Night Cache (geocache) just west of Jeff City in the park by the lake. Versailles is wonderful in the fall and look for the apple fest in october. But the highlight of the trip would have to be the Touch of Dutch buffet a few miles west of Stover at the intersection of 52 and 135..
Directions:

Written directions:

Since it is a loop, you can obviously start out in either Jefferson City or Sedalia yet the description that follows chooses to start in Sedalia the way I took the route. We started in Sedalia, heading east on Hwy 50. Then turn north on Route 5. Go about 8 or 9 miles north on Route 5 to state Route J where you want to take a right (head east). Go through Bunceton, MO (there's a new little sandwich shop in town). Stay on J through Prairie Home, MO. Look for Route 87. Head south on Route 87 to about Jamestown, MO where you need to switch to Route 179 heading east. Take 179 through Jamestown on your way to Jefferson City. When you get to Jefferson City (we stopped there and had lunch) get on Route C heading west to and through the town of Russellville, MO. Take Route C into Route 52 (heading west) and into Versailles, MO. Continue heading west from Versailles on Route 52, through Stover, MO. A few miles west of Stover is Route 135 (look for the Touch of Dutch Restaurant, if your there on a Thursday or Friday, stop for supper!!! One of the best buffets in MO). Take Route 135 north just under 5 miles to Route M where you want to take a left (head west). Continue on Route M till Bahner, MO where you want to split off to the left and take Route V (heading west). Go about 4 miles and then take a right (head north) on to Route U all the way back up to Sedalia. This was a great half day ride!.
