Motorcycle
Road Scenery:
This
ride starts in Bloomington, but the fun starts just south
of Paoli. The road winds and twists through the Hoosier
National Forest to Tell City. Then follows the Ohio River
to the old state capital of Corydon. Then travels past two
state parks and back through Hoosier National Forest past
Brown County state park to the tourist town of Nashville,
then back to Bloomington.
Motorcycle
Road Quality:
Route
37 is one of the best motorcycle roads that Indiana has
to offer. New black top South of Paoli. Route 66 offers
some great views of the Ohio River. Look for the cemetery
on river side of route that has sign that says Dead End.
Hope you see as much humor in it as I did. Road conditions
are very good along 66 and 62 but watch for gravel in turns.
Motorcycle
Roadside Amenities:
Many
shops to walk through in Nashville. Good eats in a little
one horse town (literally) of Story. Cabins and lodging
available at Brown County State Park. Hotels and restaurants
in Coryton.
This
ride starts in Bloomington
and does a 250 mile loop of southern Indiana, ending back
in Bloomington. Start out in Bloomington and take route
37 south. Take this all the way down to the bottom of Indiana
to the town of Tell City. Then go east on rt 66 till you
hit rt 62 and continue east. Follow route 62 into Coryton.
In Coryton get on rt 135 heading north. Follow route 135
all the way back up to Nashville, IN and then get on to
rt 46 heading west and back into Bloomington, IN where you've
just completed this beautiful 250 mile loop of southern
Indiana.

If you're looking for an even more scenic ride consider taking route 37 across I-64 into Sulpher Springs and taking route 62 West then route 145 South which will then pick up at 37 again just about 10 miles north of Tell City. This side trip has some great curves, forested stretches and surprising hills and grade changes. About 40 miles later when you pick up with route 62 again after route 66 you'll have a deja vu moment since you've have made a loop of Perry County. You'll be hard pressed to find more miles of beautiful scenic road anywhere else in the state than in Perry County, I've tried them all.

Very nice ride. While traveling through Leavenworth on Highway 62 be sure to drive down the hill to the Old Town and have lunch @ The Dock on the river.
