Title: Iowa's Old Lincoln Highway
State: Iowa

Submitted By: Tom Bertino

Date Submitted: Mar 05

Motorcycle Type: 04 Kawasaki VN800

Motorcycle Road Length: 30 Miles

Motorcycle Road Scenery:
This road runs through some of the most serene & beautiful southwest Iowa farmland.

Motorcycle Road Quality:
Most of this route is well maintained pavement, even though the original road was brick highway (Old Lincoln Highway). Lost of turns & hills, and plenty of straight-away for winding your bike up. Great for road racers and cruisers. Very popular with the local bikers.

Motorcycle Roadside Amenities:
Starting north from Council Bluffs, there are several small town with excellent restaurants, bars & cafes. My favorite being Crescent, IA's Pink Poodle for their prime rib!

Directions:
The starting point is in Council Bluffs, IA (just accross the river/border from Omaha, NE). Start on north Broadway and you'll find signs for highway 183 and take that north towards Crescent, IA. Take 183 through Crescent and on to Missouri Valley and continue for another 10 miles or so on to Magnolia.

no doubt a good route ... a lot of other good ones are just 30 mins or so northeast of this one in WI

you need to head much further east to find a nice route like this. It's one of the few good ones in west Iowa.

I forgot to mention that the Nebraska side is more crowded and more stops but still an enjoyable route
