Written Directions

Route starts 4.7 miles north of Coldspring, TX. Head NW on FM 945 off of Texas 156 about 12 miles to Oakhurst. Make a right on Hiway 190, then the next left on to Waterwood Parkway.

Scenery

This road is through the tall pine and oak forest of Sam Houston National Park.

Drive Enjoyment

Lots of curves on well-maintained two lane asphalt with very little traffic.

Tourism Opportunities

This is an out-of-the-way road, so not much for amenities.

I have ridden this route several times and always enjoyable. Roads are well maintained, some decent curves in places and lots of trees. We usually wind through the National Forest to get up that way and that really adds to the ride. Good roads not far from the congested H-town traffic.

Good Solid Ride - Some small sections have less than perfect road conditions. Going through mostly forest gives you a great feeling with some good scenic views. I wouldn't drive more than an hour to check it out, but if you have time for a cruise its decent.
