Just about 1.5 Miles west of the intersection of 211 and 688 is Old Bridge Road (Rt 622). If you are staring the Rt 688 trip from 211, take this road. you'll only miss .5mi of 688. If your trip is finishing on the 211 end of Rt.688, you would take a right onto Rt 613.
By the way, this route takes you right up to the very popular route - The Splendid 688!
Scenery 
On this road is an Old Bridge (go figure) The bridge is a must do when in the area.
Road Quality
The road is very curvy on the 688 side of the river and very straight on the 211 side of the river.
Roadside Amenities
Gas station with food and restroom at the intersection of Old Bridge Rd and Rt 211.
Additional Info
The Bridge is steel frame with rickety wood deck. Very safe though.
