Motorcycle Road Length: 36 Miles
Written Directions
Alderson to Peterstown. Coming from U.S. Highway 64 to Rt. 12 to Alderson (Alta exit). Ride 12 to Alderson for a bite at the Wagon Wheel, I do think they changed the name, but you'll still see the wagon wheels on the sign. Follow Rt. 12 all the way to Peterstown. There is one turn where Rt. 3 continues and Rt. 12 makes a left. This is about 12-15 miles past Alderson. Rt. 12 will then take you to Peterstown and Rt. 219. Left onto 219 will take you to Lewisburg, right will take you to Rt. 460 and Bluefield.
Scenery

You start out from Alderson and ride along the river for about 16 miles. Good sweeping curves and beautiful river views. After Rt. 3 and Rt. 12 split, the scenery gets kicked up a notch. A mix of mountain ranges in the distant and foothills all around. Superb ride.
Road Quality

The road conditions in this part of the mountains are in surprisingly good shape. Little rock and gravel on the road (although, rock from the cliff face can fall from time to time). From Alderson until you make the left turn at the bridge, traffic can be busy, especially on Saturdays when they have the outdoor flea market in Pence Springs. Not too much to worry about on this ride as far as bad road conditions (as of 8/1/11)
Roadside Amenities

You have gas and food at Rt. 12 and Rt.64 junction, gas and food in Alderson. A gas station near Pence Springs and Talcott. After Talcott not much until Peters town. You might want to get a fill up at one of the before mentioned.
Additional Info
Alderson has the state's best fireworks display and a good parade that day. Talcott has John Henry Days usually the weekend after July 4th. Coming back up Rt. 219 to Lewisburg to eat dinner is the thing to do. Lewisburg has superb resturants in the downtown area. You will not regret it. I usually make Lewisburg my base of operations when in this area.
