Written Directions

County H58 starts on the east side of Munising, MI and travels through the length of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to Grand Marais, MI. You just have to follow the signs to Pictured Rocks.

Scenery

Many areas just have lots of trees, but there are several scenic overlooks; including the Pictured Rocks overlook, about a six mile digression. Other areas do put you right on Lake Superior.

Road Quality

I was told that the last section of paving was completed only a couple of years ago and it shows. It is in excellent shape. There are lots of curves, a few sweepers and several twisty sections. Only a couple of the tight turns have gravel or sandy patches.

Roadside Amenities

I passed one bar/restaurant that I did not stop into and there are no gas stations en route. The scenic overlooks all have restroom facilities and there are of course, many rustic camping areas (for those who choose to ride on dirt roads that lead to them).

Additional Info

I went through on a July weekday and only saw a handful of cars and a few fellow bikers over the entire length. So, the lack of traffic was a big plus. However, I was told that this road can get a lot of traffic.
