Scenery

The perfect route for weekend bikers coming down to visit Brown County from Indy. The ride starts in Morgantown IN and completes a loop which brings you right back to where you started. This route will take you through rolling countryside with plenty of twisting roads and tranquil wooded areas in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Awesome scenery especially in the fall.

Road Quality

The roads are in excellent condition with the exception of some patches that run through the Morgan-Monroe Forest where there is some loose gravel.

Roadside Amenities

A nice little hometown gas/convenience store in New Unionville is a good resting spot if you need to gas up or grab a drink.

Comment: Great run , be careful on IN 45 it gets really twisty around Yellow-wood state forest and with no shoulders to speak of cars have a tendency to throw gravel from the side to the middle of the lane making it easy to loose traction in the turns when you don't expect it.

Comment: Some of the best roads I have ridden anywhere in Central-Southern Indiana. Be aware that some sections of road going thru the Morgan-Monroe State Forest are fairly remote and have been topped with crushed gravel. Perfect for dual purpose or enduro style bikes. It didn't bother me much being that I was on my Ducati MS1000 with multi-purpose tires, but I could see where if someone was on a sport bike, they would be a little nervous having to ride over such a loose surface. Only about 1 mile of the road was like this but other than that, this is truly a fantastic ride. Watch out for the deer when going thru the state park. I had 5 of them cross 50 yards in front of me ! Thankfully I was only going about 30 mph at the time.

Comment: I have rode this loop many times. Wonderful, especially in fall with the fall colors at full bloom. Very good ride anytime.
