Motorcycle Road Length: 70 Miles

Written Directions

The route starts out in Prairie du Chien, WI..., 35 N is the usual recommendation, but 27 N was the way we went. On 27 you'll head north and run through towns including Eastman, Seneca, Mt. Sterling, Fairview, Rising Sun, Liberty Pole and Viroqua. After Viroqua, you'll enter the town of Westby and want to look for 14. From there on 14 west and you'll run through Coon Valley, Shelby and eventually into La Crosse.

Scenery

This route is excellent for scenery. 99% of the time you'll see rolling hills for miles, trees galore...

Road Quality

Plenty of curves, twists and turns and many hills.

Roadside Amenities

I named this route 'Nothingness' for a reason. We've never traveled along this route and well, now that we did...we found that there is nothing along the route. You'll run into few itty bitty towns, once in a great while, it may have a shop or two, maybe a town bar, nothing as far as restaurants or gas stations until possibly Viroqua (I was busy scoping out the scenery)so make sure your tank is full when you start out. When you break from Highway 27 onto Highway 14 and hit Coon Valley, there's an excellent place called Porky's...best ribs ever! No gas station but a great place to eat. From there it's back to nothing until La Crosse...

Comment: "road to nothng" is correct! Boring all open farmland, mostly hill top, curves would be great for high speed crotch rockets, my ultra-classic was doing them at 70 miles an hour. This part of Wisconsin has much better cycle roads with better scenery and more challanging roads. Not worth it.

Comment: Great ride, but Porkys is out of business. And I was relly in the mood for BBQ) There's a little bar a block up on the other side of the road that has a very nice Italian restaurant in it.( Another block and you're out of town) Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the food and atmosphere are great.
