Comment: All comments are spot on. For an option take county road FF between Wonewoc and Hillsboro. It's a great detour and much better than 33 between those points. Awesome pie in Wonewoc @ Gina's.

Comment: For an added thrill, take Hwy. 82 from mid-state town of Mauston, hook up with 80 at Elroy (south), and then run into 33 at Union Center. The Mauston to 33 ride is VERY scenic, with incredible grades, twists and views between farms. Roads are very 'grippy' and in great shape; well marked and well signed. Be sure to be courteous and throttle off when passing the Amish buggy's. No need to startle the horses.

Comment: We just rode Hwy 33 from Baraboo to La Cross. Our destination was Hwy 35 (Great River Road) south of LaCrosse, but as usual, found our journey was far better than our destination. This area is breathtaking! As Hwy 33 wound through the hills of the WildCat Mountain State Park, I was reminded of traveling through the Black Hills of South Dakota with is sharp curves and switchbacks. Just when you start to descending out of the hills, you find yourself passing peaceful Amish farms. Respect the buggies you pass on the road and watch out for horse apples:) This is going to go down as one of my favorite rides in Wisconsin.
