Written Directions

Our ride left from Tyson Corner, VA where we proceeded to the route's starting point at Warrenton, VA. From Warrenton you take US highway 211 over the mountains and into the town of New Market, VA. Be careful on 211 as it is very heavily patrolled by police and they are cracking down on speeders. After stopping in New Market for a bite to eat, we continued on 211 through Timberville, VA and then we got on Route 259 heading west and later turning north and crossing the state line and into West Virginia. Route 259 is very open and almost no cars if you ride it on Sunday ... a very beautiful and relaxing ride. Route 259 ends in Wardensville, WV where it meets Route 55. At this point you'll find another gas station/convenience store. Route 55 is also a very beautiful road with both twisties and straits. Take Route 55 east as it passes through Strasburg, VA and on to the route's end point of Front Royal, VA.

Scenery

Some great scenic areas going over the Skyline Drive then farm and rural scenery. You'll drive through both the beautiful Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest.

Road Quality

Road quality is very good ... your typical rural mountain roads with plenty of twists, turns, ascents and descents.

Roadside Amenities

There are plenty of restaurants and gas stations sprinkled throughout the path for body fuel or motor fuel.

Comment: If you find any straits on this route, then you'll be in very serious trouble not to mention some water. I sure it has "straights" on it, but "straits". No way. :-)
