Motorcycle Road Length: 89 Miles

Written Directions

Start in Evanston Wyoming and head South along WY/UT 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway) to Kamas, UT. In Kamas, go left on State Route 32, then right on 2nd South/State Route 248. Follow route 248 west until US Highway 40 where the route ends.

From here you can go right on highway 40 and then get on I-80 and head west if you want to go to Salt Lake City.

Scenery

Parleys Canyon to Evanston: Mountainous Desert--red rocks and sage brush, with vistas of the mountains; Evanston to Kamas: Mountains and beautiful, green alpine valleys/farmlands, lakes, rivers, etc.

Road Quality

Flat and fast through Evanston/Hilliard. After Hilliard, mountains with turns/curves ascending to nearly 12,000 feet before slowly dropping back down into farm country. As of July 4, 2008 plenty of snow still packed off the shoulder of the road. Watch out for rock chucks, deer, moose, and boy scouts (there's a boy scout camp southwest of Mirror Lake). Take a jacket!

Comment: Awesome route. I have driven this many times, as I'm originally from UT. Now live out of state, had to fly in and rent Harleys to ride this. Very scenic and enjoyable. It gets chilly up at altitude, so be prepared (year 'round). We ate at Chics in Heber...great scones! If you don't want the boring ride the remaining miles to Evanston, WY, turn around! Enjoy the ride the other direction. Just be sure you have enough gas to do so. No services up there!

Comment: One of our favorites - we've ridden it countless times. Good sweeping turns & spectacular scenery. Watch for open stock such as cattle & sheep. Also, plenty of deer and other wild critters. Not recommended as a night ride! Gets chilly up around 10,000 feet near Bald Mountain. Last several miles on your way into Evanston are kind of boring, but you'll be ready for a rest & grub in Evanston, so who cares? Overall a great ride.
