This route starts and ends in Denton, and is one of my favorite Saturday rides!

Heading north out of Denton on 2164 you hit some nice curves. Left on 455 all the way to Forestburg. This is North Texas Hill Country! Some peg scrapping turns as you head out of Bolivar.

North out of Forestburg on 677 will take you within a stones throw of the Red River. The ride north out of Saint Jo takes you to a beautiful view as you drop into the river valley.

Heading east on 373 parallels the river, passes by the Red River Motorcycle Trails near Bulcher. Nice smooth winding roads, hills, and a crazy experience driving up to and through the wind power generation farm.

Munester has some great food. The trip back from there is highway cruisin, heading east on Hwy 82 to Gainesville, south back to Denton.

Scenery

Nice hills, beautiful countryside. As you approach Munester from the NW you go through a sci-fi like wind power generation farm. There are some really nice views into the valleys as you get into Montague county, and an awesome view as you cruise out north of Saint Jo ... the ride north from Saint Jo back around to Munester is great!

Road Quality

This trip has a nice mix of straight-aways on low rolling hills, some peg dragging S curves and long sweeping curves. A great chance to not only power-up out of the curves, but also do some serious flat out driving! 90% of the road is well maintained but through Wise and Cooke counties can get a little rough

Roadside Amenities

Not much, until you get to Munester. Plan lunch or dinner there at either The Center or Rohmers.

Comment: A good alternate would be to stay on 82 West to Whitesboro and pick up 377 South to 380 from there to take you back to Denton

Comment: This is a great ride. I ride the northern section few times a week since I live in Saint Jo. I would suggest checking in on the winery on FM 677 north of Saint Jo and the open air restaurant close by. Also the best food in Muenster is Doc's Bar and Grill at the corner of FM 373 and Hwy 82.

Comment: Summer 2010 UPDATE from the writer: The last year or so the road conditions around Forestburg and up towards Saint Jo have been hit and miss. With the Barnett Shale development, truck traffic has been heavy. The roads are always being worked on, you just don't know what you'll get - be careful. However, the roads north of Munester and Saint Jo are still sweet!

Comment: This was a fantastic ride and I really enjoyed the scenery in particular. The only complaint I had was the abrupt ending and the rather boring ride back home on Interstate 35. I plan to try this one again in a few weeks and take a different set of farm roads back on the return. Otherwise, great route!

Comment: This was a great ride. We rode from McKinney across highway to 922. Great scenery and little traffic. Good twisties and straights.

Comment: I ride these roads often and never get tired of the scenery and the roads. Be sure and stop on the square in Saint Jo. A good resting point and Biker Roadhouse is a great place to visit. Lots of bikes stop off there on weekends. Have fun and keep the rubber side down!
