Motorcycle Road Length: 100 Miles

Written Directions

About 60 miles southeast of Columbus, you'll find Burr Oak State Park (near Glouster Ohio). Start at Burr Oak State Park and take Rt 78-NE to McConnelsville. From there take Rt-60 southeast to Marietta. In Marietta, pick-up Rt-550 west to Athens. In Athens, get on Rt-13 north and take this back to Burr Oak State Park.

Scenery

Great southern Ohio route with scenery that ranges from dairy farms, rolling hills, river crossings, and dense forests. A Fall run would be incredible!!! Great stops in historic small towns with much history and very well kept. Midway point is Marietta - incredibly scenic town along the Ohio River (perfect lunch stop).

Road Quality

Road quality is excellent - much of the roads have been recently re-surfaced. Lots of rolling hills with gradual twists and turns. Mostly state routes - not much traffic during weekdays. Be careful, some of the twists and turns come over the hilltop peaks with some blind spots - great for kick-starting the ole pumper.

Roadside Amenities

Very good roadside amenities. Many nice towns - will take you back to an era gone by. Enough small roadside rest stops to tap the kidney and loosen the legs (as well as take pictures). Most likely, you'll meet other bikers on the way.

Comment: We just rode this route on Sunday Oct, 10th 2010. The leaves were changing and it was an awesome ride with lots of color. Just enough curves to keep you alert and on your toes but still you could look around. The scenery was fabulous. Followed the Muskingum River on 60 to Marietta and had a great lunch setting on the Ohio River at a nice little pub I would recommend this ride to all

Comment: I live in Marietta and my in laws live in Glouster. I take this ride 15 to 20 times every year and its way underappreciated. Perfect 3 to 6 hour ride (whatever you want) and many places to branch off of to extend your ride if you want.

Comment: 664 is a great road as well. Just be careful because there are ALOT of tourist down that way during the weekend(s). Old Mans Cave, Ash Cave and so on, are down that way. Definately worth checking out!
I haven't taken this route or rode any of these roads in a year or so. The last time I remember there being some "sand" spots every so often. Hopefully the roads have cleaned up since I last went. I plan on taking this trip quite a few times this Spring/Summer.

Comment: This was an awsome ride, I would say just the perfect amount of curves to keep your attention yet you can still relax and enjoy the scenary at the same time. I highly recommend this ride.
