Motorcycle Road Length: 48 Miles
Written Directions
Start in Lake George Village and head NW on Rt 9, in Warrensburg. Keep a sharp eye out, and just past the center of town, take a left onto Rt 418 South. Take 418 into Athol. In Athol, veer left onto Rt 1 South. Follow that down, until you get to Lake Luzerne, and take a left, cross over the bridge, and switch to Rt 9N South. Follow Rt 9N all the way down and into Saratoga Springs.
Scenery

We undertook the ride while we were at the Americade. Fun as the event was, it didn't provide a whole bunch of eye candy, unless you are into trikes, and side cars. We heard the Auto Museum in Saratoga Springs had a vintage motorcycle show going on, so off we went. The ride was worth the trip, though. The town is lovely! The Museum is located outside of the center of the town, in part of the old Springs resort area. The ride itself wanders along a river and Lake sides. A very pretty and quiet ride.

Road Quality

Just fine. Some twists, but not a lot of inclines, or anything hairy.

Roadside Amenities

Shopping in Saratoga Springs, the Track, The Museums (there's a bunch), the Springs. Tons of ice cream shops along the way. This ride culminates with a trip to the Saratoga Auto museum is great! When we got to Saratoga Springs, we picked up a visitor's map. It looked on the map like the Auto Museum was about 4 blocks out of the center of town. Au Contraire. It's more like 3 miles. So unless you like trudging along for 3 miles in motorcycle gear, and we didn't much, ride your bikes out to the Museum. It's worth the trip, though.

| Comment: An enjoyable ride through the southern Adirondacks. As of April '08 the road does have some winter damage, some of which has been patched but there are still a few whopper potholes so keep on watch. During Americade this route is quite popular, but that often translates into a lot of traffic. Be careful in Saratoga, it's a zoo in late summer racetrack season, lots of inconsiderate people in a rush to make post time. Plenty of food/gas in Warrensburg | ||
