Comment: This only shows the eastern HALF of Hwy 12....it goes west to Valentine, thru the upper northern plains of the state. As you ride west on 12 it threads along off and on, with the Niobrara river valley, then opens up to the northern plains. The west end is a good ride also, and should be included here. Riding west until Valentine gives a rider a chance to ride Hwy 20, east or west, and enjoy all the sandhills have to offer also! Have a safe one.......!

Comment: My wife and I ride some of this route every year and never tire of it. I do have a suggestion for a stopping/beginning point. That would be Bobs Bar in Martinsburg. They have the areas best burgers and they are HUGE! Bobs is located 9 short miles south of Ponca on Hwy 9. Very scenic, curvy road. ( 1/11/2011)

Comment: This is one of the most beautiful of all Nebraska Roads. Great riding up and down small hills and turns. It's a beautiful afternoon ride. Have taken it many times. The bridge over to South Dakota just east of Niabrara is a great bridge to ride.
