Comment: I live on part of this route and think the Rangley byway is an awesome ride. Would like to give an update on rt 17. 2011 there has been new pavement and the turn outs at the top of the height of the land have been redone. Much better bike ride now. What use to be the worst part of the ride is now the best. Enjoy

Comment: I took the ride 13 June 2010 and the views were excellent, but be warned, there ARE some bad spots in the road. Maine winters have been hard on route 17. Much of route 4 has been redone however and is a dream. . If you make the trip be sure to stop at COOS CANYON (on 17) and SMALLS FALLS (on 4).
