Comment: LA-22 is a great twistie road that I ride regularly. Be aware that there are several 90 degree turns along the bayou between French Settlement and Head-of-Island and a couple of nice tight sweeper turns that, depending on your direction and speed, require a good bit of lean angle to negotiate at any speed over about 15 mph. Inability to look and lean, and throttle control in the turns has landed lots of motorcycles in the bayou, and has resulted in some deaths. Beware and act appropriately.

Comment: Concur - very nice ride for a good bit on 22 next to bayou. Ponchatoula is also a very nice, quaint town. Looks like it should have a lot more scoots on its streets. It would go very well with the on-street parking in downtown next to all those antique shops. Very good ride. Continue up old 51 from Ponch to Hammond and stop off at the Hammond HD shop.

Comment: Certainly one of the better rides in this area.. the road surface is good with great scenery.. very twisty so best ridden at a leisurely pace.. my favorite time is early in the morning before the traffic gets on the road.. the homes/camps along the river and bayous add a lot of biking ambience.. In the summer months, its nice to pull off at Tin Lizzy's on the Tickfaw River to grab some refreshments..

Comment: I love this ride! I do it every couple of months. Several watering holes along the way and great food. But I seldom stop to eat. Beautiful scenery and the turns keep you paying attention. Each weekend, there are riders that hit the swamp in some of the tight turns. Have to be careful...
