Written Directions

This route starts in Livonia Louisiana and ends in Plaquemine Louisiana - all on LA 77 but can be extended from there. From Livonia, take LA 77 South and continue into Plaquemine where the route ends.

This route ends in Plaquemine but can be extended from there to include more bayou browsing. If this is what you crave, when 77 ends, take a right onto LA 1 South. Continue on until it meets with hwy 69. Take Hwy 69 South. This road ends at hwy 70. Take hwy 70 East to the town of Belle River. This will add another 50 or so miles to your trip. Be aware of slow moving boats and traffic at times on LA 70.

Scenery

This route offers a beautiful contrast of scenery - on the one side of the road are farms and fields yet on the other side is the bayou with plenty of cypress trees and live oaks that absolutely look centuries old. Neat ride - you'll love it.

Road Quality

The road has recently been resurfaced. The road twists and turns along the bayou with many twisties. This route should not be taken during sugarcane harvest time due to possible mud on the roads.

Roadside Amenities

Livonia has a couple of gas stations and one or two eating places. As you follow the road down, you will have a couple of truck stops and further is Plaquemine with anything you may need. Once in Belle River, there are limited albeit quaint amenities.

Make sure you try the burgers at the Mobil gas station in Belle River or if a brew is what you crave the Spunky Monkey is sure to delight! Being right on the Belle River, the scenery is really nice on the deck in the Summer. Sit back and rest and enjoy till you feel the need to leave for more great riding!

Comment: Good ride, we extended by riding through the wildlife refuge and by the flood control areas just north. Very pretty up through there, very little traffic too.

Comment: Iberville Parish has some of the worst roads I've ridden. Outside of Iberville, the ride is nice.

Comment: Watch out for local cops near Livonia. It is an income thing for them. They write lots of tickets.
Beautiful road, Probably the most curves you'll find on one road in the south.
