Motorcycle Road Length: 17/40 Miles Miles
Written Directions
From Harrodsburg take 390 north west until it intersects with 53. Take a left on to Hwy 53. which will take you to Willisburg KY. Here is where you want to stop at the Willisburg General Store. Now you can either double back to Harrodsburg the same way you got to there or you can instead take a new way back by taking 433 southeast to Mackville. From Mackville take Hwy 152 east back to Harrodsburg.
Scenery

About as rural as it gets, this road will wind you through cattle farms, tobacco fields and very small country communities. We joke about it being our "mini-dragon".
Road Quality

The first leg of this route is about 17 miles in length (17 miles roughly from Harrodsburg to Willisburg ... if you make the full loop, then the entire route is 40 plus miles). We tried to "turn count" the first leg on one ride but lost count half-way through. A good estimate would be around 100 to 120 curves. The pavement was new and smooth last season (2003) and the route follows a small ridge line, which borders a large creek, so there are several quick elevation changes. It would not be recommended to go "all out" your first couple of times, as there are many challenging curve sequences with every curve type you can imagine! Beware though, we have encountered a little of everything in the roadway - cows, chickens, dogs, bicyclists and slow-moving farm equipment. During planting seasons and after several days of rain there is usually some mud on the roadway in places.
Roadside Amenities

After you get away from Harrodsburg there isn't very much. So I will have to give this category a low rating overall....BUT....the best part of the ride happens when you arrive in Willisburg. The Willisburg General Store serves up some very good pizza, burgers and fries! I do mean good! There is nothing like jumping off of your bike and grabbing some good grinds! We plan to eat at "The Store" every ride! Before leaving you can use the restroom and refuel. If I rate just "The Store" it would be a five-star experience!

| Comment: The Harrodsburg to Willisburg route is a great, low traffic ride. There are plenty of curves to play on. Also a scenic ride as well. While you are on this ride there are places like historic Harrodsburg with Old Fort Harrod and Shaker Village on Hwy. 68 between Harrodsburg and Lexington. Mercer County has several good motorcycle friendly roads. | ||
