Bethel Church Road South of Youngstown + ADD NEW ROUTE
- Trip Toolbox
From Rt 982 south of Youngstown, PA Bethel Church Road south down to Rt 711 in Stahlstown, PA
Much of this is well off the beaten part. Brief mountainous sections with steep drop offs, heavily wooded areas, and rural farmlands all mixed in. Many rapid elevation changes, a few twisites and many sweepers.
The ACTION is 5 star, but the pavement is a 3.5. Some brief spots you're paying attention a little to spider veins in the black top, but you can always stay in your part of your lane without any trouble. No craters or bad patching, ...just a little coarse.
Plenty of civilization a mile or so from the north end of the route in Latrobe PA. The south end is more sparse. There is a really good reastaurant/bar 2/3 or the way to Stahlstown on the right side of the road called "Harbor Inn". Very affordable and awesome food ( some items in ridiculously large portions ), and the have a fabulous outdoor deck / courtyard out back!
This road ends ( on the southern terminus ) only 3/10's of a mile from Rt 130. When it ends, veer right onto Rt 711 for 3/10 mile, and then hand a right heading east on Rt 130 for a great trip through the mountains and on into Greensburg. When Rt 130 enters Greensbburg, follow the signs "To US 30 east " and in a few hundred feet you'll see one of the legendary "PRIMANTI'S" restaurants made famous by Steeler, Penguin & Pirate fans.
