Written Directions

Starting a Waukon, Iowa take Hwy. 9 east to Lansing Iowa. At Lansing take Hwy 26 to the junction of County Road A26 (Just south of New Albin) Take A26 west to the junction of Hwy 76. Take 76 south back to Waukon.

Scenery

Large Hills and Valleys Gorgeous vistas. This is a very enjoyable loop!

Road Quality

Twisties galore on County Road A26. Road quality was good to excellent.

Roadside Amenities

A few small towns along the route. Part of route is along Mississippi.

Comment: Take the time to cross the bridge swing over to Petes Hamburgers in Praire du Chein. Cross the bridge again and ride down to Pikes Peak State Park. Follow the river for some beautiful views of the bluffs and the river. Humming bird season is well worth the trip to the park.

Comment: Take time to stop at the Waukon H-D, some of the nicest folks I've ever ran into and Daryl can point you towards many more great routes.

Comment: Extend this route to the southeast of Waukon to include good condition roads through Yellow River State Forest ... Start Elon Road east out of Waukon, right at the T intersection of Lansing-Harpers road, then back north to Lansing on the more eastern route. Lycurgus Road can shorten trip again. Many of these roads are new in the last 1-2 years. My "motorcycle" is a 2008 Miata.
