Central Jersey Tour + ADD NEW ROUTE
- Trip Toolbox
This ride starts at Wawa on 18 south in Old Bridge, NJ. Heading south of Wawa then taking Rt 520 East through Holmdel then a left onto route 52. Rt 52 heads over the NJ Parkway where just past the North bound exit make a right on to Rt 12 and a quick left onto Red Hill Rd which is a great windy road that ends at Kings Highway in Middletown just over the railroad tracks. Make a right onto Kings Highway and then you first right onto Church st. Church St leads you down past the Middletown train station to Rt 12 Nutswamp Rd where you will make a left. Take Nutswamp to Rt 12A Navasink River Rd which is one of my favorite roads past a all the mansions of Middletown along the Navasink River. Make a right on to Rt 8A then a quick right onto Rt 8B which will take you to Rt 36. Cross over Rt 36 and hang a left onto Ocean Blvd (my second favorite road) which is very windy (BE CAREFUL) road with some great scenic views of Sandy Hook and NYC. Take Ocean Blvd to the end which will be 1st Ave in the Atlantic Highlands. When at 1st street take a right and and you at the water front. There are is a great restaurant down by the water and sometimes there is a hot dog cart down there. I have been taking this ride now for over 4 years and I still love it. This route has it all, nice straight relaxing roads, adrenaline pumping twists and and some great scenery! ENJOY!
This route makes it way through the tree covered roads through the heart of Holmdel and skirting past a couple of parks. Towards the middle of the route the roads become alive with great fast moving twisties that are tree covered and scoots past Tatum Park and Deep Cut Gardens. The road then becomes calm again before hitting the giant mansions that are peppered across the banks of the Navasink River. Finally the route ends along the very scenic Ocean Blvd that has amazing views of Sandy Hook and NYC. There is a scenic over view at the top which is a place you must stop at. The rest of the road is extremely twisty with great views but no were to stop until you get to the end down by the dock where the fishing boats are waiting for some paying customers.
The roads for the most part are very smooth and well maintained through out the route. There are some spots of bumpy patch work but they are few and far between.
This route starts with a Wawa and ends by a Quick Check. The route also passes 2 parks and has several restaurants at the end.
Make sure to check out Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook.
