Written Directions

Begin on Rt46 in Mt. Plymouth. Take Mt. Plymouth Road South to Kelley Park Road. Head West on Kelley Park to Round Lake Road. Turn South on Round Lake to Sadler Road. Go West on Sadler to CR448a. Turn left on CR448a to CR48. Go West on CR48 to CR561. Go South on CR561 to Sugarloaf Mountain Road. Turn left and head up the steep hill to the top. Pull off where the road curves South and enjoy the view. Special notes: The turn off CR561 onto Sugarloaf Mountain Road is partially obscured, and is easily missed so use caution when turning left.

Scenery

Scenic views and winding twisties and S curves abound. Lots of tree covered lanes, and open roads passing pastures and orchards. Nice view of Lake Apopka from the top of the mountain. If the weather is clear, you may be able to see downtown Orlando, or even as far as Cape Canaveral.

Road Quality

Roads are fair, with occasional dirt or sand on the pavement at intersections. Plenty of spots to pull off to stretch your legs. Some of the curves are pretty sharp, so be prepared to lay it over pretty far.

Roadside Amenities

Great food at RalphJanes Country Kitchen on Rt448 in Tavares. There is a Subway restaurant at the Citgo station at Oakland & Rt 50. If you head south after checking out Sugarloaf, you can go through Winter Garden where you need to make sure to stop at Downtown Browns for ice cream or snacks! Also check out the Railroad Museum.

Comment: Found this route here and love it . Considering it's Florida there are some nice curves and hills . If your from/in central Fl. and want to ride this is the route to take .

Comment: This is one of my favorite rides. We live in Orlando and take this as a "short-cut" up to Leesburg Bikefest...or any other reason to go. You can also hook this up with a trip over to Ozello Rd. If you end up in Umatilla, stop off at the Little Lake Harris Pub. Great place, friendly people.
