Motorcycle Road Length: 68 Miles

Written Directions

Start your route in Perry, FL. From Perry take route 27 east-southeast for about 68 miles to the route's end point - High Springs, FL. Of course 27 continues on through Gainesville but loses it's rural quality after High Springs.

Scenery

Beautiful scenery of an animals natural habitat. Large farms, rolling hills, green pastures, cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and even llamas. Cowboys on horseback are common on the leg between Perry and Mayo.

Road Quality

The road surface is very good. It doesn't change much in elevation, but has slow sweeping curves with large oaks shading the road in many places.

Roadside Amenities

There is not much to do along the way. You can stop and get an ice-cream or bite in Mayo. But once you get into Alachua there is most everything.

Comment: Actually 27 continues south from High Springs to Ocala. Turning on 326 south of Williston is also a nice ride, so don't end the ride at high springs. Eat at Floyd's Diner while you are there. I believe the author was refering to 441 running into Gainesvile . The trip to Ocala takes about an extra hour.

Comment: I have made this ride a number of times. The road between Pryy and Mayo is infested with semi trailers hauling logs. Use extreme caution when riding around these guys. They are notoriuoslly unsafe.

Comment: Not trying to be rude but the title of this ride should be changed to reflect the ride's location. This is not a Merritt Island to New Smyrna
ride. It is in western Florida a very beautiful section of the state. Thank for the posting and hard "work" .
