Written Directions

Take Hwy 50 West from Poncha Springs to 114 west of Parlin. 114 to Saguache and 285. North on 285 back to Poncha Springs. Route goes through part of Gunnison National Forest. Some hills and twists. More for the leisurely ride than the aggressive type. October colors are great.

Scenery

October colors are great and the varies from hills and plains to rocky and steep mountainsides. You'll be riding through Rocky Mountain high country in south central Colorado and travel through portions of the Gunnison National Forest. The highlight of the ride is route 114 ... a true pleasure to ride and take in the scenery!

Road Quality

Paved roads all the way in good condition. Most turns are more sweepers than twisities. Watch for wildlife as there are Coyotes roaming parts of 114.

Roadside Amenities

Not much beside fuel and food in the small towns. This is a ride you are taking for the scenery and some lonely mountain road riding.

Comment: It's one of the best, least travelled mountain loop roads in the state..! If you're on a tourer like our 05' GL1800 it's like a walk in the park - long sweeping stretches and LOTS of scenery, esp in late Sept - early October - Watch the weather..!
