Start: Murfreesboro at the junction of US 41 and TN 268. Follow 268 N to junction US 231. Cross US 231 and follow East Compton SE and turn left (East)on Halls Hill Pike. Follow to Bivins Hill Rd and turn right. Thence to T-junction with Old Woodbury Pike. Turn left and follow to junction with US 70S in Woodbury. Turn left and go through town to TN 53 on left. Follow north to Stones River Road on right and continue until T-junction with Short Mountain Road - TN 146. Turn left and follow TN 146 for 2 miles to the Short Mountain Distillery on right.

You are in the countryside of Middle Tennessee, with a bucolic mix of heavily timbered hills and grassy farmland valleys. A very relaxing and scenic ride!

Road Quality

The roads are narrow and sweeping, with a scattering of tight bends here and there until you get to Stones River Road, which is quite twisty. Surface conditions are mostly good to excellent, but there are some spots of deterioration that will give you a bump or two.

Roadside Amenities

The feature attraction on this route is the Short Mountain Distillery, which is a great place to stop and stretch and get a tour of a real working distillery that used to be run by illegal moonshiners. Otherwise the route is mostly countryside with few amenities outside of the occasional service station. The town of Woodbury does have the typical complement of American fast food, and a few "home cooking" type restaurants, so you won't go hungry!
