Motorcycle Road Length: 60 Miles

Written Directions

From Morrison, CO (southwest outskirts of Denver just west of C470), head west on Route 74 to Evergreen. In Evergreen take a left toward Conifer on Hwy 73, and in Conifer, turn onto US 285 South. Follow that about 60 miles to Fairplay, and at the light in town hang a right onto Route 9 toward Breckenridge - beware of speed traps and go 25 MPH. After a few hundred feet, you find the Brown Burro Cafe (is this in Brekenridge or just after you turn on route 9???) on the right, a favorite Breakfast and lunch spot - after lunch, stroll through old South Park City, yes, that is South Park!!!. At this point you reverse directions and head back on the same path. However, if you liking what you've seen so far and want more, continue on toward Buena Vista on Hwy 285 South, for another 30 miles for more scenery.

Scenery

Too many mountains and parks on the way to mention, beautiful Mountain Meadows with many small towns along the way. Plenty of well-known places along the way, including Little Bear in Evergreen, Evergreen Lake, Conifer with the famous hot-dog stand, Pine Junction and Bailey, Grant with close-by Guanella Pass, Kenosha Pass with great hiking, Jefferson with Tarryall Reservoir and Jefferson Lake, Fairplay with South Park and views of 14-ers as far as the eye can see.

Road Quality

Good, winding, highway, mostly two lanes with moderate traffic and speed limits mostly at 55 or below (some 65). Lots of climbs and descents, some straight stretches few and far in between. Beware of windy days, making rides more difficult.

Roadside Amenities

A roadside restaurant, campground, park, hiking trail, lake, gas station, or vista about every 2-5 miles. On the halfway, have lunch at the Brown Burro Cafe, upon return, hang out at the Little Bear in Evergreen or the Morrison Inn in Morrison

Comment: A great side trip off this road is at Jefferson. Take hwy 77 (Tarryall Rd) south to Lake George. The first half of the road is new pavement, but the second half is pot holed. But worth the detour.
